Preventing H1N1 or Swine Flu outbreaks from happening in your facility
For nearly a week we’ve heard about the H1N1 or Swine Flu outbreak and fears about the virus have not subsided. As a building owner or manager you can help allay those fears with a few simple precautions.
Because the swine flu is passed thru the air and by touching infected surfaces it is very important to properly clean and disinfect all surface using an EPA approved hospital grade disinfectant. Johnson Diversey Virex II will effectively kill H1N1, not all cleaners will.
Have cleaning crews disinfect door knobs, light switches, telephones, keyboards and mice.
If you do not have nightly janitorial services encourage employees to disinfect telephones, keyboards, mice, door knobs and light switches. This can be done with antibacterial hand wipes
Employers should encourage sick employees to avoid coming to work.
Managers and supervisors should be on the lookout for swine flue symptoms amongst their workforce
In adults emergency symptoms include
- Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
- Pain or pressure in the chest or abdomen
- Sudden dizziness
- Severe or persistent vomiting
If a case of H1N1 is identified in your facility there is still no need to panic. Your building services contractor can work with you to develop an action plan to sterilize your facility and keep building occupants safe.
